You know, God really does teach you things when you let Him. And let me tell you, He definitely uses odd ways to speak to me.

Say tonight. I really REALLY didn’t want to go running. I did NOT wish to do it, but knew I had to, and with a little encouragement from my mommy (thanks mommy) I got my lazy butt up off of the couch and strapped on my new running shoes and slipped the iPod phones in my ears and took off on an adventure I didn’t know was coming.

While I’m warming up, I just sigh and tell God to speak to me, to teach me something, to motivate me to finish.
(You know, there are people that tell you you can’t boss God around, but skrew them. Sure the bossing can only go so far, but when you tell God you want Him to do something, hold on cause you’re in for more than you bargained for.)
So here I am, running my rear-end off, and this song starts blaring in my ear. I’ve heard it so many dadgum times before, but something about the way that the words rang in my head was different. Suddenly I realized that God was singing to me. I knew that there was no coincidence that that song was playing.

I don’t know how many of you have ever had someone sing or dedicate a song to you (not on facebook, my friends); but it is something that is so priceless and precious that you want to tell EVERYBODY in the whole entire world that YOU ARE LOVED!! That someone in this world loves you and wants to tell you something with the whole world watching, but only the two of you really know the deep, true meaning resonating in the soul, the very core of the song. That at the heart of that song, they are telling you how much they love you and how much they care for you.

Well, God dedicated a song to me today. He said, “Morgan, your Cheshire Cat is with you every step of the way. I’m not leaving you, no matter what. We are starting this thing and ending this thing together, because without me, you can’t do it. I’m right her, baby. I’m right here, don’t be discouraged. Don’t give up, don’t give in to the harshness of the road beneath your feet. I’m right here. I’ll Stay With You.”

And so, I ran every step of that horrible 2 miles. I was exausted and wanted to give in, to give up. But I heard His words in my head and I kept going. I kept running . . . . . I kept running . . . . I didn’t stop . . . .

He never let’s go. He never leaves me. He will always stay with me and will always be running every step of the way. Every time I trip, He’ll be there to pick me up. Every time I think I can’t do it, He’ll be my cheerwarrior, pushing my on, nudging me to the glory that waits me at the finish. There are no winners, there are no losers. There are only finishers and quitters. I choose to be a finisher. I choose to press on. I choose to praise and raise my hands and cry out to Him to carry me over the finish line.

Because, as much as I wish I could, I CAN’T do it on my own.
